Super Chillaxing Day!

6/02/2019

Today was a restful day filled with delicious food and hours of card games! Some of the team woke up early to go to church service while others slept in.

For lunch, today's exotic fruit was pomelo -- the largest citrus fruit. For dessert we also had sesame and rice flour wrapped in a green leaf! Yum!

With our stomachs full, some of our team went to scout out a potential project 20 minutes away while the rest of us rested, watched movies, visited the Buddhist temple nearby, or played cards.

The potential future site has around 100 households and about 300 people. They have metered water that they pay for that can only be used for washing. In order to collect drinking water, they have to travel very far several times a week. The villagers make a living from rice farming and making silk flower wreaths for funerals. A potential project could be a filtration system and distribution system drawn from the well to provide the community with free drinking water. This potential project would have a huge impact on the community, and it was exciting seeing what projects next year’s team could potentially do!

After scouting and relaxing, dinner was an amazing make-your-own bowl of pho and pad kee mao!

Have you ever seen pho this delicious? No. Because it doesn’t exist.

Overall, the day was just what we needed before going back to work! We're super excited to see the sinks now that the concrete has been poured!
